Can a PFA give temporary custody in Alabama?

Yes. A PFA judge can grant temporary custody, set visitation restrictions, and order supervised visitation if needed. The priority is protecting the child and the victim from harm.

These custody orders are temporary but enforceable. They remain in effect until the PFA expires or another court modifies them. Sometimes this temporary arrangement sets the stage for later family-court decisions.

Because children are involved, the court looks closely at safety, stability, and recent behavior. Strong, organized evidence helps the court make the right call.

If custody is a concern in your PFA matter, you should get legal advice immediately.
